1) This will be another open
catchup day for those present in class today. There will be no quiz question today. However, we WILL take
our weekly timed writing today (see Note item #2 below)!!
2) We will have one graded timed writing for this week, with 15 WPM
(score after errors are subtracted from your GWAM) being the "A" level, with NO more than 5 total errors! If you have 6 or more errors, your paper will NOT be accepted!
NOTE #1: Make
sure you catch and circle ALL of your errors made within your timed writings each time we do them. Each one your teacher
catches, which you do not, will count against you TWICE!! Subtract your errors from your "GWAM" score (bottom left of
your printout), then circle your final "WPM" score WITH those letters, somewhere in the middle of your paper.
NOTE #: GWAM = Gross Words Per Minute
WPM
= Words Per Minute -
Timed writing score after
errors are counted out.

February 23, 2005:
WARNING!!!
Those people who have hit 5 absences for the semester, excused or not, will now
have to make up their missed assignments during ELO only, and MUST do so by the next ELO, or they will not receive grade credit
for their work! Further, I will be calling parents at work every day you're absent, to let them know what
you're missing, what your grade dropped to, and how many total absences you have for the semester at that point.
Several people have elected to miss classes on a selective basis, and I will no
longer tolerate this kind of activity! If you wish to pass this class and not have me make daily contact with your parents,
you MUST come to class on a regular basis, and I will have NO sympathies for you, if you are even 1/10th of a point from the
next grade. I will NOT bump the grade up in those instances, if you have 5 or more absences by the end of the
semester!!
1) Type all lines on pages 39 thru
42, making sure you save each of these pages SEPARATELY on your disk, properly!!
NOTE #1: This week's timed writing will have 21
WPM as your goal for an "A" for the last time. As usual, I will NOT accept papers with 6 errors or more on them.
Remember that any errors that I catch, which you do not, count against you as 2 errors each!

Also, I will be gone on Tuesday of next
week, but you will have some assignments to complete, as usual. I have asked my substitute teacher to essentially do
nothing but walk around to watch you all type for proper form, keyguard use, etc. He will let me know about anyone who
is not working properly at their station.
Further, he knows that some of you may finish your work
pretty quickly that day, and will probably then check email, surf the Internet, etc. He'll give me the names of those
people doing that JUST so that I can make sure it's only the ones who are caught up in class through that day, etc.
Anyone caught not doing their work that day, while not being caught up, will take automatic "0" grades on that day's assignments,
with NO chance to make them up!
1) Do lessons 18 and 19 on
Microtype. Print your results pages of each one, and turn them in.
Today's timed writing will have 21 WPM as your goal for
an "A" for the last time. As usual, I will NOT accept papers with 6 errors or more on them. Remember that any
